The opportunity

Medium earth orbit missile warning goes to industry

A request for information covering SYSTEM DELTA 84 (SYD 84/MT) medium earth orbit missile warning and missile tracking, EPOCH 3 and EPOCH 4, appeared on 2026-08-23 with a closing date of 2026-10-31. Responses have roughly two months. The subject fits sensor and ground-segment teams that already work missile warning.

Project 505, Optical Ground Station for SDA appeared the same day, also as a request for information. Optical terminal builders and site integrators may find it worth reading next to the first one.

The company move

Rocket Lab shows up on three desks

Rocket Lab flew Electron | The Lightning God Defends (iQPS Launch 8) on 2026-08-20, which moved to Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1B and went from In Flight to Success on 2026-08-21. The company filed a 4 on 2026-08-19.

Rocket Lab also entered the record with 30 job listings this week against 14 removed. Two more Electron flights carry dates of 2026-08-31, LOXSAT 1 and StriX Launch 11, so the near Electron schedule stays busy.

The money

Intelsat and Viasat lead the week's award changes

Award changes show INTELSAT GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS LLC was awarded $75M and VIASAT INC was awarded $75M, both dated 2026-08-22. MARVIN ENGINEERING CO, INC was awarded $11M the same day. Signed award totals for the week came to $41,442.38 across 1 award, MDS L.L.C. for substation gateways bought by the Bureau of Reclamation on 2026-08-19.

Mithril LP disclosed a stake in BlackSky Technology on 2026-08-21. Muon Space raised $250M in a Series C. Filings ran to 43, most of them Form 4s from AST SpaceMobile, Iridium Communications and Viasat, with 8-K filings from Northrop Grumman, Boeing and L3Harris Technologies.

The launch record

Six successful flights and a lunar slip

A story dated 2026-08-23 reports LandSpace's Zhuque-3 topples following milestone landing.

Long March 5 | Chang'e 7 went from TBC to Go on 2026-08-20, then slipped 37 days and went from Go to TBD on 2026-08-23. Thirteen launches are scheduled in the coming week.

Watch this week

Evidence cutoff Aug 23, 19:49 UTC. Figures stay as published; the site's rolling totals move daily. Written each week from the site's own record of the previous seven days. Every number and name in it is machine-checked against that record before a person reads it, an outside model then tries to refute it, and a person approves it before it appears here. Every claim links to the page that holds its evidence.
