About
NewSpace RFP keeps an index of the public signals that move the space industry: government contracts and the solicitations that precede them, hiring, launches and their outcomes, patent filings, funding and market movement, suppliers, congressional hearings, and the companies behind all of it. Each of those is published somewhere already, in a different system, under a different name for the same company. What this does is hold them against one another. It is a static site rebuilt from its sources every morning on a machine in a house, not a platform.
Where the data comes from
Fifteen sources, all public. Where two of them disagree about the same launch, both are kept and the record says so.
Solicitations
- SAM.gov
- Federal contract opportunities, matched on space manufacturing NAICS codes (336414, 336415, 336419, 927110) and on keywords. 184 notices are open or recently closed today.
- SBIR.gov
- Open SBIR and STTR topics filtered to space, across NASA, the Space Force and DARPA.
Launches and events
- Launch Library 2
- Launch and event records, agency identities and logos, and the launcher-stage detail the recovery statistics read. 223 of the 375 launches we hold come from here.
- Wikipedia orbital launch lists
- A second, independent record of the same launches, so no single provider decides what flew. It adds 152 launches the first source does not carry, and 180 launches are now confirmed by both.
News
- Agency and company newsrooms
- Press releases by RSS, direct from the organisation that issued them: ESA, NASA, Space Force. A story page links the release before it links anyone's write-up of it.
- Free-to-read outlets
- Reporting from European Spaceflight, NASASpaceflight, Science Official, polled the same way. These are publishers rather than sources, and they earn a link by adding reporting the release does not carry. Where a story sits behind a subscription we look here for coverage of the same events that anyone can read.
- Spaceflight News API
- Trade-press headlines and publisher summaries, used to find coverage and to link it. We quote a publisher summary with attribution and send the reader to the original.
Policy
- Congress.gov
- Committee meetings from the House Science, Space and Technology committee and from Senate Commerce, Armed Services and Appropriations where the subject is space.
Jobs
- USAJOBS
- Federal roles at NASA, the Space Force, NOAA and the FAA, including the published pay range. Federal postings state pay; almost no commercial board does.
- Company job boards
- Openings read straight from the applicant-tracking systems of 19 suppliers: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and BambooHR. 4724 roles are live today.
Images
- NASA Image and Video Library
- Public-domain stand-in images, used only where a publisher supplied none. Every one is labeled on the page as a library image so it is never mistaken for a photograph of the event described.
Business
- USAspending.gov
- Federal awards with amounts, recipients and agencies. 251 awards signed in the current window are on the business desk. The NAICS family we query covers missiles as well as space vehicles, and the page separates the two rather than presenting the whole total as space money.
- SEC EDGAR
- Company filings, and the share counts behind every market value we show. A ticker only appears on the tape if it resolves to a filer in the SEC's own ticker map, so a delisted or mistyped symbol drops out instead of becoming a row.
- A public quote endpoint
- Share prices, read from an endpoint that is not an official market feed and can stop answering without notice. It is the one source here we would not call durable, which is why every ticker links out to a finance site and why the daily change is computed from two readings we took and dated rather than from anything the feed asserts.
Ours
- Files we keep by hand
- The supplier directory (52 companies), the list of public companies on the business desk, the conference and earnings dates in the calendar, and any role we post directly. Each calendar entry carries the page its date came from, and the build drops an entry with no source.
How we handle other people's work
Headlines and summaries
A publisher's summary is quoted, attributed and bounded, with the full piece one click away on their site. We do not reproduce articles.
Images
Publisher images are shown from the publisher's own servers and belong to them. Where none exists we substitute a public-domain NASA frame and label it as one.
Paywalls
A story behind a subscription is marked as such, and where free coverage of the same events exists we link that too.
Machine-written summaries
Some story pages carry a short summary written by a language model from the records above, labeled where you read it. Every number, date and name in one is checked against those records before it is published; anything that fails the check is discarded and the publisher's own summary is shown instead.
Pins, watches and privacy
Pinned solicitations and watched companies are stored in your browser and never sent anywhere. There is no account and no email address required to keep a list, and nothing you pin or watch is measured: the site's only measurement is a cookieless page counter with a public dashboard, which never sees what is on a list. The trade is that a list stays on the device that made it, and clearing site data clears it.
Who makes this
NewSpace RFP is a hobocode project, built and run by Jerm. One person, one machine, and the pipeline described above. Questions, corrections and sponsorship inquiries all go to jerm@hobocode.net; there is no form, no ticket system and no autoresponder, so a reply comes when a person reads it.
Public claims and outcomes
The page called Worth keeping an eye on records what companies said would happen and holds it against the record. A claim enters only as a verbatim quote with its source and date; we never paraphrase into the record, and a company's absence means we have not recorded a claim, never that none exists. Each claim carries a due date and a status: pending while the date is ahead, at risk when a named constraint in the record weighs against it, achieved or missed when the record settles it, unverified when the date passed and the public record establishes neither outcome, and superseded when the company replaced the commitment with a new one. Missed is a date comparison, not a judgment of honesty. Every status change cites a dated event, each assessment carries its own date, and assessments are revised only forward: an issued status is corrected in the open, never silently.
Original analysis
Pages marked with a green outline are written here rather than aggregated: the weekly Monday brief and the special reports. Their figures come from named primary sources, and each page says where. Before publication, a deterministic check verifies every number and name in the brief against the packet it was written from, an outside model is asked to refute the draft against its sources, and a person approves it. Each brief states its evidence cutoff and stays as published while the site's rolling totals move on; when a published piece is wrong, the correction appears on the piece, dated, with the original mistake described rather than erased.
Copying and reuse
The facts here are public and belong to everyone; go get them from the sources we list above. What is ours is the work on top: the arrangement, the joins, the classifications, the scoring, the prose and the marks. Quoting a figure with a link is welcome and never needs permission. Republishing pages, mirroring the site, or redistributing the compiled data as a dataset is not licensed, and the pipeline that builds all of this is not open source and not for sale. Corrections
Every page states what it counted, and coverage is uneven in places we can name: stage-level recovery data exists for some launches and not others, and roughly half of launches carry the program field that groups constellation flights. If something here is wrong, write to jerm@hobocode.net and it gets fixed in the next build.
